Bishop Clive Nurse Elected As New Administrative Bishop of The Association of the New Testament Church of God in Guyana (NTCOG)

GEORGETOWN, GUYANA, April 22, 2024: The Association of the New Testament Church of God in Guyana (NTCOG) on Saturday elected Bishop Clive Nurse as the new Administrative Bishop for a term of four years.

Bishop Nurse is currently serving as Interim Administrative Bishop to complete the term of the previous holder of the office, Bishop Joseph Persaud, who resigned before the end of his term.

The election took place during a special meeting on credentialed ministers held during the 65th Annual National Convention between Thursday 18 and Sunday 21 April, 2024. The Convention brought together ministers and members from the seventy eight churches spread across the country. The convention also included a new church from Region 9 and a Georgetown-based Spanish-speaking church.

Also attending the convention were Bishop Russell Willemsen, Lead Pastor at Flint Creek Church of God in Stanley, New York,  Bishop Dr. Kenroy Burke, Senior Pastor of Kingdom Empowerment New Testament Church of God, Barbados and Superintendent of the Southern Caribbean, New Testament Church of God, and Bishop Ishmael P. Charles, Caribbean Field Director of the New Testament Church of God.

Bishop Charles made the public announcement of the results of the election during the closing service on Sunday. The results were disclosed to the ministers shortly after the ballots were counted.

After making the announcement Bishop Charles congratulated Bishop Nurse and his family and declared β€œIn the vote that we had yesterday, you were elected by a majority, you are not the overseer for those who voted for you. You are overseer of the whole Church of God in Guyana.”

The Administrative Bishop-Elect today issued a statement thanking ministers for their support. The full statement follows.

Dear Ministers, Lady Simone Nurse and I hereby express our profound gratitude to each of you for your fervent prayers and support throughout our sojourn at the helm of this great church, for the past eleven months.

We do appreciate the love and confidence reposed in us to lead this church at this time. However, we are cognizant of the realities we face ahead and do hereby covet your continued support and prayers.

The will of God has been established and we are prepared to work collectively with you to advance this church to the next level of ministry. Let us join hands and hearts as we fight our common enemy and not fight each other. A house divided shall not stand. Let us all come on board as we build the Association of the New Testament Church of God Guyana.

Thanks and God bless you and God bless the Association of the New Testament Church of God.
